Electricity has some advantages over other energy sources. It can be generated using a variety of sources like the wind and the sun, and to deliver it only requires a wire. Other sources like gasoline and propane require extraction, containers, storage space, and physical delivery. Realizing that and the trend toward gasoline price anxiety, Chevy is considering an all-electric version of the Volt.

Hewlett Packard faces a new security hazard as their Software Update Tool is found to have a fairly serious security hole. The double threat can lead to remote command execution or data leakage, both of which are huge issues for a company like Hewlett Packard.

The U.S. Military has new hi-tech gadgets to help them in the field. The new OLED (Organic Light Emitting Diode) displays use very little power and can be switched into a special “stealth mode” where only the screen can only be seen by night vision goggles.

With gas projected to reach $4.00 per gallon, the thought of modifying my Prius to get 100 miles per gallon is very exciting. But at an initial cost of $10,000 for 100 mpg for only 30 to 40 miles at a time? I’m not sure its worth it.

The latest example of hype? "United States Teaches Spies How to Think Using Videogames," featured on this site is a classic example. While certainly sensational for an article headline, it is not entirely accurate.

It’s amazing that at this juncture that Microsoft still has any partners left but it does and those partners want the company to stop its own bashing of Vista which they say is making selling Vista more difficult; as if it wasn’t hard enough. Some partners claim recent statements from Microsoft have undermined efforts to sell the operating system.

If you didn’t have your calendar marked this day (04/29/2008) is an important day; the third service pack for Windows XP has been released to Windows Update today. It may not be trickling down just yet but several sites have already posted manual updates that can be downloaded.

If you aren’t aware of the OQO, it is a palmtop computer that packs most of the computing power of your average laptop in a tiny form factor. Typically it ships with Windows Vista but an enterprising user managed to get it running Mac OSX Leopard making it the first palm sized Mac.

Del Ray is using a free download to grab people’s attention for the release of the latest book in the Star Wars “Legacy of the Force” series. To drum up interest for the newest (and final) book, they are making book one, Betrayal, available fora free download as an audio book.

Yahoo Inc. has decided to outsource calls made via its Messenger service to popular Internet telephony startup Jajah.
AP reported that Yahoo Messenger has hired Jajah to connect the calls, also handling other aspects like billing and customer support. The exact terms have not been announced at press time.
