Campfire has finally been released for the iPhone. Campfire is a business chat application that lets you communicate with your project team members and employees in real time online. It includes group chat, file sharing, photo and video sharing capabilities and more.

Pushing Linux customization to a whole different level, Linspire just announced that it will now create unique Linux distributions for individual customers. That’s a potentially sweet deal for Linspire, as it may then be able to box customers inside an ongoing support contract.

One of the largest photography trade shows is getting underway in Las Vegas. Most of the major companies are there, Kodak, Sony, Nikon, FujiFilm and a relative newcomer to digital Photography, GE. To date, GE hasn’t exactly wowed us with image quality but 9 new models may improve GE’s standing.

Audible, a popular audiobook service, sold its soul yesterday, though it wasn’t it to the devil. Amazon and Audible have been partners since 2000, when the online store began selling Audible’s content, but now it belongs to Amazon despite that Audible still sells its content on iTunes.

Sony’s net profit rose by 25% in the three months up to December 2007, and the gaming division posted a profit of 12.9 billion yen, reversing last year’s loss due to production costs. But despite these increases, Sony have cut their unit sales estimate for the PS3 for the rest of the financial year.

It turns out that most of you are perfectly happy sticking with Windows XP. Microsoft has created “the operating system that couldn’t” with Windows Vista. It is considered to be this generations Windows ME. The company is none too happy that users want to drop back to Windows XP or remove features from Vista. Though, somewhat grudgingly, it has offered a “XP downgrade program.”

It looks like even if HD DVD was to continue for much longer, there may start being a lack of companies to even make the discs.

If you are anything like me, your heart skips a little in cautious curiosity when a random number pops up on your private cell phone; we’ve all been disgusted by the telemarking call or unwanted stranger who somehow landed your number. Unfortunately, you can expect a lot more of that as one internet company is whoring your cell phone number to whatever low-lifes are willing to drop $15.

If you’ve gotten used to the Dell kiosks you’ve seen around the U.S., get used to seeing them gone. In what analysts see as a move to play catchup to HP, Dell is getting rid of the kiosks and concentrating on bigger chains like Wal-Mart instead.
