The next shot in the Blu-Ray and HD-DVD format wars has been fired this time by the Philips/Lite-ON alliance. The two companies have worked on producing a $200 Blu-Ray player but there’s a catch and it’s a big one.

Although Vista SP1 isn’t yet available to the public in any form, Microsoft is rolling out some patches to be included in SP1 early because of the plethora of complaints. Many of them deal with enhancing the reliability and stability of Vista.

Yes, I know a lot of you care, but the question on my mind is "why upgrade?" So many of you are excited over the prospect of having to spend an hour or more jailbreaking our unit with the new firmware only to get a device less functional than before.

It appears Zunes are outselling iPods at least through stores on our favorite digital, interactive medium, the web. Microsoft’s favorite PMPs are making a huge impact on some of the web’s biggest stores including Amazon and Buy.com.

Microsoft are taking a page from Nintendo’s very popular Virtual Console book, with an upcoming Xbox update set to allow full original Xbox titles to be downloaded from Xbox Live. These titles are expect to cost ~ $15 (1200 Microsoft Points).

A new survey shows that despite continuous warnings to keep personal details safe online, many users are failing to do so. The biggest risk comes from social networking sites such as MySpace, Facebook and Bebo where an incredible 25% of people admit to posting confidential details on their profiles.

It appears that, although it is working hard to rectify the multitude of issues with its current Vista platform, Microsoft has largely redirected its focus on preparation and development for its next platform, Windows 7. An indicator of this would be what appears to be a wishlist of changes users want to see for the next platform which surfaced recently.
