Microsoft's vice president, Satya Nadella, in an interview with Mary Jo Foley from ZDNet, may have slipped some information about Microsoft Works 9.0. The new version is said to be free, funded by advertisements.

The recent corporate buzz over whether to offer Linux-based machines or not has raised quite an uproar in the open-source community; now you can tack on another turncoat to the list. Acer has officially announced it will not be releasing Linux-based machines…at least in the UK, because there is "no demand" for it.

In the never-ending game that is iPod rumors, now it seems the previously reported on trimmed down model may actually be the next gen of Nanos, and not the big league 6th generation.

Microsoft has had few successes in pushing Vista on the masses. Most people running older systems and hardware saw no reason to upgrade because that would require almost completely new hardware and peripherals or finding Vista drivers for existing equipment. The average consumer is not going to jump through those loops and neither are businesses.

My eyes adjusted to the sun and my face to the sudden reminder of desert heat as I climbed out of the Red Pyramid in Dashur, trying to straighten my back after an upward climb through a narrow tunnel. Preventing your lenses and camera bodies from scraping and banging against stone walls is difficult under such confined conditions, so, checking my Nikons for new signs of abuse, I descended to meet the others. We were all there to photograph one of the most fascinating places in the world and we had already come to know and love the faces of Egypt…

Most cameras these days have built in flash. Even the more upmarket digital SLRs sport a small pop up flash. They also have a hot shoe for flash. However, as well know, this kind of flash photography can often yield boring and unnatural lighting results.

The security defenses in placed by Microsoft to protect its Windows Vista kernel from accepting non-digitally-signed code can now be easily circumvented with the released of a free utility tool, according to researchers at Symantec.

Windows Vista has been slammed by the president of PC manufacturer Acer, Gianfranco Lanci (pictured), who said Microsoft's new operating system is a massive disappointment, having failed to boost PC sales.
"The entire industry is disappointed by Windows Vista," Lanci told the Financial Times Deutschland.

There are small victories and to me, this is a small victory. The Wii might still be the best selling console in the world over but the Xbox 360 has overtaken it in the online world as the most searched for. Perhaps hype regarding the Wii is dying, maybe due to its somewhat lacking graphics?

A certain forum is trying to debunk the "rumors" that the Wii has worse graphics than other systems and that it is, in fact, more powerful than the GameCube. Sure, it's more powerful than the GameCube but only just. It's almost a joke to what the Wii is compared to in the post, I like to call it "Wii Graphics Myths (Not) Debunked."

Many believe (foolishly) that large social networking site MySpace, which allows users and artists to play their favorite songs on their pages, keeps users from downloading what they can go to MySpace and hear. Not so; in fact a recent survey by Entertainment Media Research revealed that nearly half of all social networking site users partake in illegal downloading of music.

After denying that any major Vista updates would be released before Service Pack 1 ships, Microsoft released “Vista fix packs” to testers yesterday.
